Location:             Head office – London – Vauxhall – SE11 5DP

Salary:                  £28,632

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Resettlement Team offers support to Forward Trust graduates, people committed and engaged in a recovery pathway, ex-offenders and those with complex needs to transition and settle back into the community.

THE ROLE OVERVIEW

The Resettlement Broker role supports the Resettlement Manager and team by working on a high level caseload of homeless clients and working closely with landlords and referral agencies to source suitable, good quality properties in the private rented sector for clients who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The resettlement brokers will support the Resettlement team and assist them to fulfil the KPI’s for the service. Coordinating referrals, attending assessments, attending and arranging property viewing and tenancy sign ups and continuing to liaise with our mentors who provide mentoring support sessions to all clients to support them to sustain their tenancies

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRES

  • Proven experience in a resettlement brokerage environment
  • Excellent understanding of the challenges caused by homelessness especially in London  gained from either a hostel, supported housing or housing options capacity
  • Good understanding of the benefits system, universal credit, local authorities and the Homeless Reduction Act
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement properties, ideally with an estate agency or sales background
  • Understanding of landlord needs and legislation
  • Experience of advocating for service users/clients with complex needs and within homelessness
  • Excellent case management skills
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining partnerships
  • Experience in administrating, collecting and analysing data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equal opportunity and client confidentiality.
  • Able to manage own workload effectively to deadlines and targets.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND ADITIONAL EXPERIENCE (willing to work towards)

  • IAG Level 3 advice and guidance
  • CIH Certificate in housing services Level 3 and above or Diploma in housing practice level 4
  • Safeguarding
  • Fire safety and Health and safety
  • Homelessness related training and qualifications
  • Drug and alcohol awareness
  • Mental Health
  • Understanding of the needs of the homeless, ex-offenders, individuals with complex needs and people in recovery from addiction
  • A good understanding  of recovery and/or homelessness
